Here is a question for all religious organizations – do you have church insurance?

There are many types of insurance available, most of which are designed to help protect you from future financial risk. Do you own a farm? Then farm liability insurance should be considered a must.

There are many reasons to have church insurance. One of the risks faced by all structures, including churches, is the risk of a fire. Fire can be both natural and manmade. Without insurance, your organization could be financially unable to repair and rebuild after a destructive blaze.

Farming is considered one of the most dangerous careers in the United States. This is one of the reasons having farm liability insurance is so crucial. In 2009, the agriculture profession lost 440 of its workers to job-related fatalities according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Despite the risks common on the property, farms often welcome children onto the land for school field trips and the like. While there is a lot such a visit can teach young ones, it is vital certain safety precautions are taken.

According to the NVDaily.com, on July 2, 2011 a fired raged through and ravished the Strasburg Presbyterian Church in Strasburg, Virginia. The flames were started by faulty electrical wiring in the kitchen, which quickly developed into a devastating blaze. Although a group of church-goers were there at the time for an event, no one was hurt. The one hundred and eighty-two year old building was not so lucky and suffered substantial damage during the fire. At the time, it seemed improbable that it could be resurrected and be used again for services. It’s probably a good thing they had church insurance in place.

Places of worship are often viewed as a central pillar in a community. They provide a place of refuge and peace for people in a community. Yet a church can face many of the same risks that a business faces, and one or two that the average business doesn’t have to worry about. For that reason, church insurance may be necessary to ensure that mishaps and disasters don’t reduce the assets of such an important community group.

The holiday season and cold winter weather conjures up visions of families gathering around the warm glow of a crackling fire. What we often fail to remember is that fireplaces require special maintenance to ensure safety and proper use.

There are many expenses associated with owning and running a farm. These bills can be as insignificant as a bag of horse feed or as vital as farm liability insurance. Most business types have an ‘off-season’ and farms are no exception.
